Captivate HTML5 output with video won’t play with IE11

I have a HTML5 course output with slides and video from Captivate 9 and 2017 that when played with IE11, it stalls with a permanent IE11  “loading” screen.  If published as .swf the project plays and navigates perfectly, but with EOL that is not an option any more.

The video in the course continues to play, but the captivate course slides container and contents don’t work.

Looking through old threads, this seems to have been reported but none of the workarounds have worked for me.

I am stuck with IE11 and don’t have a lot of control over LMS or browser setting. I have used a completely blank master slide. Any new ideas on how to resolve this?

Thanks in advance!

Hi, I am facing the same problem. The screen does not move past the preloader. Even If I change the preloader its playing the old preloader. I am not sure if its the Captivate issue or IE issue.

I experienced the same issue reported by Monis06, including the preloader appearing, but the video never shows. The video plays fine in Chrome without the preloader displaying, but we use IE as our default browser at our organization. I’m on Adobe Captivate 2019 build 11.0.0.243 with IE version 11.11.30.17134.0. Even older courses where the video played in earlier versions of IE now do not play. The video is .mp4 and was captured as a video demo in Captivate and published to .mp4. It’s a non-responsive project because we only use desktop/laptop in our company for training. After the preloader disappears the media bar for the video shows, but no video displays at all. I should mention that my videos are on subsequent layers using the ‘state’ feature. I tried it on a main page and now see a black shape where the video should be. Still no video showing.

Also adding, tested in SCORM cloud and was able to recreate.

Hi! For 2017 I am on 10.0.0.192, but an update is not available in the app manager for me to install. My Captivate 9 is up to date, and has the same issues. The video is an MP4. It is a non-responsive project. The output is viewed on an LMS.

Hi, Please check if you have the latest update installed for Adobe Captivate. Also, could you please share some more information, which type of video you have inserted into your project? Is it a responsive or non-responsive project? Are you previewing the output locally or its published on any LMS? Thanks
