Adobe Captivate 9 and 10 – “Continue from where you stopped last time? Ok/Cancel”

Hello everyone!

I’ve been reading a lot of articles regarding bookmarking in Captivate and we can’t seem to figure out a solution for our problem.

Product: Adobe Captivate 9 and 10

LMS platform: Cornerstone

Issue: The option “Continue from where you stopped last time? Ok/Cancel” doesn’t work. No matter what we select, it always resumes from the slide where you left off. When you click “Cancel” it’s supposed to start from the beginning. But it’s not happening.

We tried all sorts of things:

  • Published both SCORM 1.2 and 2004
  • “Never send resume data” is not selected
  • We disabled the “Self-paced learning option” in TOC as LMS is supposed to do it for us. The pop-up doesn’t appear at all this time and you continue from where you left off.
  • Published SCORM 1.2 and 2004 with and without “Self-paced learning option” in TOC

I’ve read a few articles that you should manually set the bookmarking in a .js file but I am not sure where exactly to make those changes or what script to use.

We appreciate your wise advices!

Cheerio!

A.

Hello everyone,

So, we finally found a solution for us. And it’s the exact opposite of what’s recommended. We have to check both “Never send resume data” and “Self-paced Learning.” Even though it sounds absurd, if you publish your Captivate content on a Cornerstone LMS platform, give it a try.   Maybe it will fix the bookmarking for you, too.

Best of luck,

A.

Hello Shaleen! Thank you very much for your answer.
We tried with both “Never send resume data” and “Self paced learning” unchecked. The issue persists.
Should the LMS platform handle the bookmarking for us? Is it possible that is not a problem with the way we configure the Captivate project, but with the way LMS is processing the Captivate output?
We have another department that is using a different e-learning software and they have no issues with this functionality and they must have the ‘Self Paced Learning’ checked for it to work. 🙂
Best regards,
Aniela

Hi,

Did you end up finding a solution to this? I am using Captivate 2017 release, Litmos LMS and am having the exact same problem.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi Dave,

Just making sure you get the message: for us, the opposite of everything recommended actually worked. We checked the options to “Never send resume data” and “Self-paced learning.” We published the training and it works.  Our audience is finally able to start from where they left off.

Hope this works for you, too.

Cheers,

Aniela

Hi,

When uploading the Captivate output to LMS, bookmarking is handled from ‘Never Send Resume Data’ option, to enable the bookmarking(resume from where you left off), you need to have ‘Never Send Resume Data’ option unchecked.

‘Self Paced Learning’ option is not to be used in case of LMS, It should only be used in case of Internal Server Reporting.

“Continue from where you stopped last time” option is not to be used on LMS, It is only triggered when ‘Self Paced Learning’ is enabled.

Regards,
Shaleen
