This video shows how to make loop animations and various animations with multi-state objects and advanced actions.
It shows:
– an easier way to animate landscapes in loop with the While loop action compared to Captivate 9,
– how to make various loop animations that come in and out of the screen or remain on screen with Multi-state objects and the Effects panel,
– how to make animations without using the Effects panel but with several pictures as in cartoons (e.g. bird),
– how to use the decision tabs to set up all animations in one script only.
This video has been made with Captivate 2017 but it also works with Captivate 2019.

This walk-through was very helpful. It took me a few (frustrating) minutes to figure out why my animation wasn’t playing on screen, I needed to preview in browser and not just chose to play slide. I am new to Captivate and don’t know if this is the norm, or if my computer is just at the bare minimum threshold to run the program. But now, thanks to this video I can animate loops!
Common confusion for Captivate starting users. The ‘Play Slide’ option should NOT be put under the Preview button at all, because it is NOT a preview method. To have a real Preview, a temporary output needs to be created either to SWF or to HTML5. That will not happen with Play slide, which can also be started from the Timeline panel with its Play button (arrow) or with the space bar. That option is meant only to be used when editing for synchronisation goals.
Since the demise of SWF and Flash Player, the only temporary output for Preview to be used should be HTML output. However, for a non-responsive projects, that means that only the option F11, Preview HTML in Browser should be used, because the other Preview methods (like from this slide) use temporary SWF output. That is not the case with responsive projects created with fluid boxes, because they can only have HTML output. This may also be confusing…
If you are on a non-responsive project, that is indeed a good conclusion.
