For fluid boxes, you lose some control over the exact position of everything depending on the screen size, because it is  Captivate who will arrange the layout based on the settings for the fluid boxes. I suggest that you read this blog post, where I compare the functionality of responsive projects with the two workflows:

You’re welcome. Understanding fluid boxes really is bit of a challenge. You may have been confused by the dropdown list with several screen sizes. In Breakpoint views you can easily set position properties for up to 5 breakpoints, and there is inheritance top-down. But in Fluid Boxes you set up the way Captivate may use ‘fluidity’ to adapt the layout to screen size. Totally different.

Which type of responsive project are you pointing at: Fluid Boxes or Breakpoint Views. The answer to your question largely depends on that choice. From your question I would suspect you talk about Breakpoint views but I doubt it since the two most recent versions of Captivate push you to Fluid Boxes.
