Hi,

I am trying to create navigation buttons that:

  • Allow the audio / video to play on a slide, and
  • Stop the slide from automatically progressing .

I’ve worked in Storyline and I’m used to having this kind of navigation automatically baked in.

Any help y’all could provide would be appreciated.

I have several blogs answering your questions. Search for Timeline Tweaks to see how to have one shape button on the main master slide which will pause all slides at the end. Have also one about one shared action used for 5 different toggle buttons

I don’t know if this addresses the audio/video point, but I’ve always used custom navigation buttons in Captivate projects. You can disable the play bar by going to the ‘Project’ tab, selecting ‘Skin Editor’ and there you can uncheck ‘Show Playback Control.’ From there, if you don’t want slides to advance automatically you should create a button, I usually use a shape layer than check ‘use as button’ option. You can set the action to be next slide or previous slide. For more customization, I’ve started building my next/back buttons in Adobe Animate, then export them as an .oam file and import them into Captivate. I import the file onto my first slide and set their duration to ‘rest of project’.

If you create your buttons in Captivate, you can create your navigation buttons on the master slides so they’ll automatically appear on all the slides.
