Can a Video Demo be imported into a slide?

Hello!

I’m new to Captivate.  I created a few content slides and a video demo.  When I preview my project of 5 slides, it’s not previewing the video.  How can the content slides as well as the video demo be viewed as a single project?

Thank you!

Holly

Hi Lieve,

I figure out what I was doing wrong. Thank you for your help!

I’m using the trial version of Captivate 2019.  Would you know how to add transitions to slides so that the slides in my project advance smoothly from one to the next?

Thanks again for your help!

Holly

That is a totally different question. Slide transitions are Flash-based and are not supported for HTML5 output. Normally the playhead will move seamlessly from the last frame of a slide to the first frame of the next slide. What do you mean by ‘smooth’? If the next slide has heavy audio clips or video, they may have to be loaded which could slow down the appearance especially with low bandwidth devices. Only way to avoid that is to keep slides as light as possible. One way is to distribute over multiple slides. For audio clips, leave a small gap before and after the audio timeline.

Captivate has a MDI, multidisplay user interface, as have most Adobe applications.

Now you are confusing: the title speaks about a Video Demo, but in your last answer you mention a ‘software simulation which is totally different.  A Video demo results in a CPVC file.  A software simulation results in a CPTX-file. Can you please confirm which file you have in the tab which doesn’t have the content slides?

Second check to perform: doe both files have exactly the same resolstuion/size in pixels?

Can you please explain your present workflow? It also helps if you mention the exact version nubmer you are using.

If you created the video demo’s separately, it is important that they have the same resolution( size in pixels) as your cptx project. You can record a Video Demo slide in cptx file by using the Big Button Slides, Video Demo. An existing cpvc-project can be imported using the Insert, CPVC-slide option.  A last possibility is to publish the cpvc-project to mp4 and to insert it as a video, either Event video or Slide video.

Hi Lieve,

I’m using a 2019 trail version of cptx.  What  I find confusing is that when I completed the software simulation, it was on one tab and the slides that I wanted to precede the simulation where on another tab.  I didn’t see the ability to combine the two.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Lieve,

I don’t see the comment I left yesterday so I apologize if this posting is a duplicate.  Can you explain how to add transitions between slides?  For instance, maybe a fade in or fade out?  I find the transition between my slides rough. Thank you for your help.

I did answer about the transitions in another thread.

If you have the software simulation in a different tab, it means that you created it as n individual file instead of using the Slides button to add recording slides after the existing content slides.

If you want to have them in one file now, you have to be sure that they are at the same size (resolution in px). You ca copy all slides or several slides in the filmstrip, then switch to the other tab, go to the slide where you want to paste them and paste.
