I recently updated to the Captivate 2019 version. I had to make some updates to our annual courses we are rolling out soon. I saved the changes I made to the course (which was originally created in Captivate 2017), which prompted me to “convert it” or update the course file to Captivate 2019. When I re-uploaded the revised file back into our LMS/FTP, the course no longer loads (I just see a spinning circle that goes on forever).
This is true for any browser, including Chrome, IE, or Firefox. I had to re upload the old version of the course created in Captivate 2017 back to the LMS, so unfortunately we are stuck with the old version of the course.
Other folks from our organization has had similar issues when updating to the 2019 version. For another course – many people are having trouble viewing it on their browser (mostly Internet Explorer) when this was not an issue before.
Now some folks are hesitant to update to the new version in fear that when updating their courses, they’ll face issues. Any thoughts, suggestions, or has anyone else faced a similar issue and was able to fix it?
Thanks!
To clarify why i’m thinkng about Autoplay being the issue: the first version of CP2017 still had AutoPlay working on laptops/desktops (never worked on mobile devices). It is due to decisions of some browsers to prevent AutoPlay that it was disabled by default for all browsers in HTML output, not for SWF output (which will soon disappear for recent browser versions).
You didn’t tell the exact version of CP2017 your were using. In 10.0.1.285 the AutoPlay is turned off, maybe that is your problem. Look in this portal, there have been many threads about that new situation. I suppose you checked if the server/LMS supports JSON?
