None complete issue when viewing all content via Scorm system (completion criteria – Slide views)

Hi all,

I desperately need some help here. I am fairly new to this which does not help!

I have a course I have created which is navigated through custom buttons made up of next slide and previous slide buttons. I have no TOC and no playbar and no Q&A’s. The user can move forwards and backwards with no branching.  I have set the completion criteria for slide views as so..

When I ran it through scorm cloud, I exited the module half way through to see if it registered a complete or not (which it didn’t) and it was only when I viewed the last slide and closed the module down did it register a complete action (see below).

When I am passing this on to the client though they are reporting the following:

“The module is registering being opened but isn’t passing SCORM completion data back to the Academy. (SCORM is the protocol that enables modules to communicate with learning management systems).”

Essentially its being reported opened but nothing else it looks like?

they passed this on to me as well:

What am I missing here? What is it that captivate isn’t doing in order for this to happen? As I reading it right that scorm cloud essentially says its working or am I missing something here too?

Indeed, that is what I meant. You don’t really need to add Slide Views (less than 100%) to the criterion since you are controlling the sequence of the slides by the custom navigation, and all slides will be viewed before the learner clicks the scored button.

Setup looks OK. Test it out.

Many thanks Lieve!!! I have tested this in scorm cloud and it seems to be registering OK. I have now sent this version on to the client for testing on their LMS.

Thank you so much for your quick and helpful responses – you’ve really helped me out here!!!

I just wanted to drop by and say thank you once more for your help Lieve. They haven’t come back with any more issues thus far so I am hoping that fixed it. Thank you for that useful tip in captivate.

Hi Leive! Thank you so much for the quick and helpful response!I have had a look at the features you suggested and think I have come up with the solution you were referring to. I have set the button up as follows (see screen grab 1). Was this the approach you were explaining?Next, do I have to set the pass or fail options as 100% total? My last question is do I need to adjust the reporting options? Should this now be set to something like: Slide views and / or quiz = Quiz (ticked) with the drop down as ‘Quiz is passed’ .Do I need to touch the ‘Data to report’ section to the selection ‘percentage’ Manymany thanks for your help here – it is VERY much appreciated!!!!!! Please see my next post with the attached Screen grab as this shows all the boxes I was referring too (I tried to edit this post and replace the attachment but it wouldn’t let me!).

Personally I am always reluctant to use 100% for slide views because it causes some problems with some LMS’s. When is the slide considered to be viewed? Since you are using custom navigation buttons (as I always do) frames are skipped in each slides, the frames after the pausing point of the navigation buttons.

You can try making the % smaller, but a foolproof workaround is to attach a score to the last button in your course. Make sure that the button has to be clicked. You now can add a passing percentage to the completion criterion, which is 100%.

Each interactive object can have a score. Have a look at the Advanced Interaction panle (F9).
