Drag and Drop interaction

I have incorporated a drag and drop interaction in a module.  It is not to test the learner, just to give them a chance to practice.  However, I do want to make sure they actually attempt the exercise, so I want to hide continue button until after an attempt  (my boss is requiring it).  I have been trying to set up an advanced action and have tried a ton of combinations, but nothing is working as intended.  I noticed that I cannot assign different scripts to the variables – they all default to the same one.

I am very new to Captivate, but have learned a lot over the past few weeks – very frustrated that I can’t make this work.  Are there any solutions here?

Thanks for any and all help.

If you are wanting to attach scripts to variables, you might want to look at the CpExtra widget by Infosemantics Pty Ltd.  It allows you to do some great things that are outside of the normal boundaries of Captivate.  If you are publishing this as a SWF, I would recommend their D&D interaction widget, which I believe would allow you to create what your boss is wanting.  However, if you are publishing in HTML5 you will not be able to utilize their D&D widget.  I played with creating the desired outcome but have not been able to do it yet, I will keep playing with it and if I find a solution I will post it here.

Here are some shots.  I have successfully set up forced nav with other interactions (like accordion), but cannot figure out how to do it with drag and drop.

You didn’t answer my question at all about the Continue button. That action (some label me Queen of Advanced actions) is irrelevant here. A D&D slide is set up either as a Knowledge Check or a Question slide and there are a lot of similarities with those type of slides. That action was to force clicking several buttons like in a dashboard to have something happening when all have been clicked.

If you set up the D&D slide as KC slide, not scored, give them multiple attempts; set up the Success action for navigation, the Failure action only occurs on Last Attempt. They have to click the Submit button, on failure a failure feedback appears where you can tell them to retry again. Maybe even set attempts to Infinite.

You did insert that Continue button or are you talking about the playbar?

A D&D slide whether it is configured as a scored slide or a Knowledge Check slide is pausing at 1,5secs. That pausing point is linked with the Submit button. You can drag the Submit button out of the stage and choose for Auto Submit but that will only be functional when the answer is correct. What is that Continue button you are talking about, it is not a default item on a D&D slide.
