I have a huge Captivate Project in various languages.  I’m trying to have the individual language reviewers review just for translation accuracy.  I’ve been sending them out via EXE. and some have difficulty opening.  I want to export the slides, or print them so they look as close to PowerPoints as possible with out all the details, so that they can review.  Thoughts?

You may try exporting the captions from the “file” dropdown.  The file it creates will have a two columns – one for the original text and one for the updated text.   The translator can update the second column and then all you need to do is import the captions.

You talk about export to Word? The workflow has a lot of issues, and wonder if this is sufficient for a Review.

I’ve thought about that, but regretfully not all the reviewers are invested enough in being reviewers that they are willing to download and load the tool, and there are some languages challenges with that.

The problem with a Print solution is that lot gets lost (interactivity, multistate….). The present Word templates will not cope with that.

In the rare situations where I had to offer a ‘print’ solution I do take screenshots, and put everything with eventual added text and indicators in InDesign. Could probably be done in Word as well. Time consuming but didn’t yet find an alternative.

Another solution, since you were thinking about print for review, is to publish to mp4, which is a universal format for the reviewers. Of course, you’ll lose all interactivity. Better, but more time consuming is to record the course while you are interacting with it. You can use Video Demo (or Camtasia), publish to MP4 again.

EXE is not a good idea at all, since it is Flash-based and that may cause the issues for some reviewers. Why not use the Reviewer application?
