Hello Captivate community. I do have a question regarding chroma key functionality. Can videos of product shot with a green background and imported into Captivate be composited so that the slides background appears? If so, what is the process in CC 2019? Thank you for your replies.

Hi Dave, I can post instructions on how to do it in Premiere if you need them.

Thank you Layli. I can get it done in Premiere. My goal is to use pre-produced videos from Premiere that will share a background produced in Captivate. Thanks for the offer.

The green screen functionality has been taken over for Video Demo in Captivate, from Presenter Video XPress. AFAIK it is only meant for the part of the Video Demo shot with the webcam in parallel with screen capturing. That was the case for the Presenter version anyway.

Thank you for the reply. Guess I’ll have to put it on the wish list.

I doubt very much that this will ever happen within Captivate. Having that feature for the webcam recording in a Video Demo is logical, but applying that to a totally different video, created outside of Captivate is not logical, at least IMO.

It would provide the same functionality as importing a PNG with a transparent background. What seems illogical to me is building in this feature and restricting it to the lowly webcam. IMHO

Because it is really only meant as accompanying a screen capture, where a talking head is often wanted.  There are plenty of applications which allow taking off green screen. Importing an image which has an alpha channel is not the same as adding an alpha channel, you need another application for that as well.
