Hello together!
I’ve uploaded a pptx/ppsx file into Captivate2019. The file contains some animations (e.g. incoming text etc.). If I publish thes presenatation as SCORM the animations don’t work anymore. Is there the possibility to publish the file so that the animations work?
Aim is it to display the file as a ppsx (powerpoint screen presentation) in our LMS.
Thanks for your help!
Franzi
Why do you need Captivate for that? Have to tell you that I never use PPT to start an eLearning course. If you just want to play the presentation, you could record it with the Video Demo feature and create a mp4. Import PPT to CP is possible, but not one of the best features, going back to PPT with the CP file will not be possible. It would be like putting a big airplane engine in a small car.
I am also having this problem of the animations not performing as they should once converted into Captivate. Then once I publish the course to my computer as a SCORM and upload to my LMS I find that I even lose pictures. I also notice when I present in browser, my pictures get lost this way as well…
Lieve, if you don’t know the answer to a question, you probably ought to pass on putting in your unhelpful two cents. There are lots of us who are familiar with the Adobe Suite of products and they are indeed powerful tools. But in the real world, many people find Adobe software to be the WordPerfect to Microsoft Word. Sure, keeping your hands on the keyboard when you knew every keyboard shortcut in WordPerfect was great! But for the average Joe, grabbing a mouse and clicking a button was much easier than learning a new language.
As imperfect as PowerPoint is, people are comfortable with it. I downloaded the latest (2019?) trial version of Captivate and it is clear to me that it is the neglected step child of Adobe products. The user interface is clunky and about the least intuitive I’ve seen in a long time.
We’re not a big company. We want our trainers to have a BIG hand in developing our training, including being able to eventually develop rough draft courses on their own. Trust me, if I put them in front of Captivate, there would be lots of moaning. But if I put them in front of PowerPoint, they’re comfortable enough that I’ll get an output that, while not perfect, can become a complete course with very little input from software specialists.
Companies like iSpring understand this. I can design and develop a course in PowerPoint, INCLUDING animations, quizzes and a final test, click a button, and I get a SCORM compliant course. If Adobe wanted to, they could do a MUCH better job than just about any company out there. Hopefully, they’re working on this. Until then, can anybody tell me whatever happened to WordPerfect?
I realize this post might not see the light of day. But if somebody on the Captivate team is listening, it might be the post that a developer can bring to their manager and say, “read this.”
