Chandresh I did see that you were retyping the formula, not dragging nor copying. Maybe I didn’t explain well enough.

Sure, I know very well that managing slides is a lot easier than managing a video demo. Maybe I have to write out some practical tips. I never will record a video demo in one session, but always capture a sequence of short video clips in the same video. I edit each video clip before adding the next one. That makes the process a lot easier to manage, and the final result is of much better quality than a mp4 created from a software simulation in demo mode. Since CP2019 I always convert to an interactive video to offer not only better control to the learner, but to add overlay content and KC slides as well. Sort of alternative for software sims in Training or Assessment mode.

I will set my self to go for Video demos a.e.a.p… I was set with simulation so always preferring that… But as you suggested, I will …

For typing in second-time formula…. In real life teaching, I have seen that, 90% of learner want that I repeat … So It has become my way to show two times… You can see that at the end (in 2nd example) I showed dragging the same…

I appreciate your minute observation and involvement in everyone post and giving frank opinion and suggestions.

Sure, Chandresh. I liked to have my students making failures. In the last years of my career I always used flipped class approach….

No Captivate comment, but some questions. You have to know that I have been teaching spreadsheets (Lotus 1-2-3 and Excel) for a couple of decades in the past, collaborated on the development of a cost price calculation application based on them (for building industry).

As a learner I would like to know why you don’t use the copy formula? Moreover the apearing green small triangle in the top corner of the cell is intriguing (know what it means) and should be explained from pedagogical point of view.

For a pure demo I never use software simulation anymore, because FMR slides can become quirky if the conversion from SWF to MP4 is not working well. That is one of the reasons I replace it by a Video Demo, at least the FMR slides if I don’t have time for the full video. Did you do that as well?

I appreciate that you took time to write your thoughts /suggestions…

But, I did not get your point “why dont’ use copy formula” …. if you are talking about using copy instead of dragging… then dragging is  100 times faster than copying a formula to each Cells …. also dragging will change a reference to cells inside formula relatively which copy won’t do… AGAIN, my main point in the tutorial was/is to just explain IF command. other points are covered when I teach them in a long session…

As far as your view on FMR, I do agree but in that my experience is, if I do a mistake, I have to do re-recording (editing facilities are not so good or may be I m not used to it)… while in simulation, I just add/ delete slides. to edit.. But again the fact is I am also considering since looooong time to use video demo to save time…

Thanks for your comments…
