When I insert a Smart Shape, such as a rectangle, how do I chose a fill color?

This is a baffling issue because I’m sure I’ve done this before, but now I don’t see any option to do it. On the Properties panel, I see an option to change the transparency, and options to edit the text within the shape, but I don’t see a way to change the fill color. I must be missing something obvious.

I emptied the cache and updated to Captivate 2019 Release 11.5.0.476, and the issue is resolved!

Thanks to everyone for your helpful replies, which led me to the solution.

I emptied the cache and restarted Captivate. It worked! I now see the fill options.

Thanks much!

I never got an answer to my question: which version?

I’m not sure about the version of the original person who posted the question.

For me, I’m using Captivate 2019. I won’t be able to do the recent upgrade until I return to campus and have someone with administrative rights to install.

You will not have the screenshot as shown in the original question in that case.

Did you try to clean the Preferences? Look for the CleanPreferences…. file in the subfolcer ‘utils’ under the installation folder, and run that file while CP is closed.

I stll have 11.0.1.266 on one system, never had that problem since its release. It used to happen in older versions once in a while however.

Can you please tell which version you are using, because I am bit confused because of the PI. It looks like an old version (there was only one of that type, maybe 8) where the shapes didn’t appear as thumbnails under the Shapes big button. Can you please check the full version number under Help, About Captivate?

That’s a good one! Has it done it with all shapes, or just one specifically? Should be appearing above the word Stroke.

Seems like a rendering bug with the PC / Software. Have you restarted your PC recently?

Maybe;

  • empty the cache (edit > preferences)
  • restart Captivate
  • restart PC
  • re-install Captivate
  • wait for the update coming out today!

Not sure what else to suggest. Good luck, tell us how you go please!

It’s happening with every shape.
