error uploading PPTX file

I am a newby to Captivate (2019).

I just tried to import a powerpoint file (.pptx file), but I receive the message:

‘unable to import Microsoft powerpoint presentation, the file may be damaged.’

Well this is highly unlikely, the file opens without problems in Powerpoint. Also other pptx files give the same error when trying to open/upload them. Can this be a wrong setting somewhere?

Thanks in advance,

William

Thanks for reporting the solution. Just popped in with a tip. If you are serious about eLearning, do not use PPT import as a start. Each PPT slide is converted into a movie slide, and you cannot add nor edit a lot.

Are you on 11.5? In that case, play with Quick Start Projects, it will show you the difference between a presentation and proper eLearning. You can unzip a ppt file (it is really a zipped folder) and extract the assets. Import those assets into the Library of a new Captivate project. Start building slides with those assets. PPT has no Timeline, which is the core feature of Captivate. Get familiar with that Timeline and the Library. Have a look at:

Problem solved, Powerpoint 2010 was used to generate the .pptx file, this is not supported by Captivate 2019. So I converted the file to a .ppt file and was then able to upload it.
