So here’s my problem. I am an engineer getting ready to retire in 5 months. My manager asked me to put together some nice e-learning programs for new engineers to capture my 40 year career learnings. I looked at all the packages out there and originally tried to get presenter working but IT wouldn’t initially give me admin rights. So after a lot of frustration with that I heard about Captivate. Many great features, but I probably will not become the power users you guys are in the next 5 months!
So really, if I could either import or create PPT like slides with the audio of Paul and James so no one has to hear my voice until eternity on the training classes, plus have a quiz at the end for understanding, that would meet my requirements. But all you Captivate power users and Adobe folks are so far over my head with all the great things you can do, I am lost. I need a Captivate for dummies book!
John
First of all you are NOT a dummy, hate that word. You have a lot of knowledge, and probably have been teaching others as well during your career> I am a civil engineer 5highest degree in Belgium, 5 years master). Have been professor in a university college, and now I’m a freelancer, consultancy/training for…. advanced Captivate. I discovered that amazing application when I was looking for a way to create better learning assets than written courses and presentation (I used good presentation tools before PPT corrupted that domain).
If you want so, I will offer you a free meeting to talk about your plans, on Connect (virtual). No commitment whatsoever, find my contact details in my profile.
Just one tip: do NOT start from PPT to create an eLearning course. You will be too crippled and frustrated. You can have a look at one of my blogs:
