Optimal resolution for 360° source equirectangular images.

Hello,

I wonder what the optimal size for the VR source files (equirectangular PNG files) would be for desktop output. The sample files installed with Captivate are 4096 x 2048. Should this be the target size?

Thank you,

Howard

Does anyone have a suggestion for this? When I open my 360 images in a Captivate 360 slide, The image is flat and does not scroll around like a 360 image. It shows up in Photoshop 360 viewable, but I don’t know how to save it out to get it to show up in Captivate in 360.

Be careful!  How do you expect the learners to watch the course? Doubling image resolution will lead to much higher total file size, which can be slowing down the course.

Did you post the same question on one of my blog posts?

Have to admit that I am not aware of an optimal resolution at all. Only few of my clients have been asking about VR feature, need more experience.

Yes, I also asked this on your blog. I think I’m going to work with double the resolution of the Captivate sample images, so that if Adobe adds a zoom-in feature, my panos will be able to sustain the detail.
