Missing icon for creating hyperlinks in text caption properties

I recently upgraded from Captivate 9 to Captivate 2017, and discovered that I no longer have the add/edit hyperlink icon in the Properties window for my text captions. My existing hyperlinks in my project seem to work, but I can’t see or edit the URLs and I can’t add any new hyperlinks. Has anyone seen this before? I am using Windows 10.

Lieve, my hyperlink creation icon is grayed out, but I am on a corporate license for Captivate 2019, so who would need to do the Clean Preference workflow for me to be able to create hyperlinks?  If this is something that I can do since the software is loaded, I have never hear of Clean Preference workflow nor how to execute this, do you have instruction on how to do this.

It can be done manually, but the easiest way is by someone with Administrator rights. Find the subfolder ‘utils’ under the installation folder and run the CleanPreferences… for your OS while Captivate is closed. Did you read my previous comments: in some situations the hyperlink functionality is not available. That is the case on master slides, in states etcc… The original question showed a screenshot where there was space for the hyperlink, that meant it was not due to the situation.

Did you try the Clean Preferences workflow. It is a bit worrying if you have so many issues. Are you on Windows?

Yes, I did clean preferences as you suggested and it did fix the problem. Thanks for your help. I am on Windows 10. The files I am working with are several years old, some are in Captivate 8 and some Captivate 9, so maybe that is contributing to the issue. I have now saved them all as Captivate 2017 and so far they are all working correctly now that I ran the clean preferences procedure.

It would be missing if you are on a master slide, because you cannot have hyperlinks in text there. But in that case the white rectangle would be smaller. I suspect something is corrupt in the Preferences. Can you clean them? Also, please mention the exact version number you use, as mentioned under Help, About Captivate.

It was not a master slide. I am on Captivate 2017 10.0.1.285. But I agree with your idea that something must have been corrupted, because I reinstalled Captivate this morning and now the problem is fixed. Thanks for following up.

Maybe it was only necessary to clean the preferences, keep that in mind.

How do I clean the preferences? It’s been happening to me again. I can’t find anything in the Captivate help that describes how to do this.

You need admin rights. Look in the installation foldeer for the subfolder ‘utils’ and run the CleanPreference… file appropriate for your OS while Caotivate is closed.
