Short virtual tour through Lisbon (5 min.) + knowledge check at the end. Enjoy!
I played a bit with Captivate’s 360 mode, and built a short virtual tour through Lisbon (5 min.) + a small knowledge check at the end. Enjoy the result here:

I am still struggling a bit with the part after the quiz where the jump back to slide 1 won’t happen. I’ll try to figure it out in the next days.
Have seen a possible problem with the close buttons on images. If it is a large image, which is only partially visible, the close button may be off screen and that will be confusing if you don’t warn the viewer to move the screen in that case. Some instructions at the start could help (audio to be preferred).
I suppose it is a VR project. Did you try to watch with goggles?
Wished I were in Lisbon… although I am not sure about the weather at this moment.
Hi Matthias-noll,
Great start for the project, I watched the experiencing using an Oculus Go headset and managed to get to the question however encountered the issue you referred regarding quiz/return to slide one. I think your best option would be to use to two hotspots, one for quiz and one to return to slide 1 (when the quiz is successful answered) as unfortunately, I don’t think you can change the success action on a VR Quiz element or have two actions on a single hotspot (which is a real shame as would be extremely useful).
A couple of little things when using a VR headset. I found that some of the imagery and hotspots required me to tilt my head back considerably to view which could be a usability concern going forward (as referenced by Lieve). The navigational arrows were useful as a visual guide especially for hotspots out of the headset view in normal circumstances. I agree with Lieve that audio guidance would be useful.
Thanks,
Sam
Hi Sam,
you right, setting a second hotspot that shows up after the quiz and links to the start/end slide is definitely a workaround. Thanks for the hint!
I see what you mean about tilting your head back. The navigational arrows help on a laptop to guide through the imagery – but with a VR device you’d need to spin by your own I could duplicate the slide, and let the duplicate start on the rear side, though.
Best
Matthias
Hi Lieve,
thank you for the kind feedback. I also experience crashes, when starting the tour on my iPhone and switching from slide 2 to 3… In the next days I want to record a video tutorial about designing the tour in Captivate. Here I also want to highlight the glitches I found, and hopefully some workarounds 😉
You mean the file type? Each scene is made from one static jpeg file
Best
Matthias
I was able make it through the presentation just fine. I’m new to the community as of today….did you ever make a tutorial? I’d be very interested in seeing it! What 360 camera did you use to make this? I’m in the market for one and am researching my options.
Nice job….I loved it!
