My client wants the video to have a playbar with countdown displayed (just like in youtube videos), with scrubbing/ff/rewind disabled. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

You will have to use slide video, and create the custom navigation with Captivate features. (buttons and actions). To display the time you can use the timing system variables.
