Why I decided to attend Adobe Captivate Specialist Training?
Miho Adachi is an instructional designer. Her previous role was a trainer at a major Japanese consulting company. She did on-site training over 100 days per a year from September 2001 to April 2019. During that time, she was a member of a new program development team and worked on localization of overseas programs. She attended the Adobe Captivate Specialist course in May 2019. After passing the assessment, she is independent and engaged in e-learning consulting and design.

I am an Adobe Captivate Specialist. I attended and passed the classroom training in Houston in May 2019.

I had been working as a trainer since 2001. Sometimes I used ATD online training courses from Japan.  My first learning by the asynchronous program was 2015. The interactive structure was very interesting. And I felt that e-learning in Japan should evolve. (Even today, most e-learning contents in Japan are  videos of chroma key.) Afterwards  I decided my career change, and I was questioned in job interview. “Can you use Adobe Captivate?” So I searched on the web and participated in Dr. Pooja’s webinar. After the participation, I was excited. “Now I find how to create interactive contents!”

After that, I attended an online course Adobe Captivate Certificate(ATD). This course consist a 12-hour online webinar.( 3 hours/ a week x 4 times) The lecture is easy to understand from the basics, and the lectures proceed while sharing the screens of the participants. It is able to grasp the operations. It was also good for me that I was able to review during the week after attending the three-hour webinar. It was suitable for me who was a complete beginner.

But the ATD course lacked the explanation of the latest features. So I applied for participation of  the“Adobe Captivate Specialist” . And I started learning from online training course.

At the online training, the operation is summarized in a video, and it is easy for beginners to understand. You can also download the sample files, and try the same operation as the video yourself. Also, you can download the finished file after the operation, so you can compare the files you operated, which is very useful for mastering the operation.

After learning, I participated in classroom training. Participants can learn the contents that are not included in the video and the operations that are difficult to understand in the video with hands-on . Questions are accepted and questions from other participants are very helpful too. Also It is possible for participants to exchange information during breaks.

Participation from Japan was difficult, but I was able to learn a lot of things I couldn’t learn by just being in Japan. Both of online and classroom training were  really excellent. If you are beginner and be wondering whether to participate or not, I recommend you to participate. And I wish “Adobe Captivate Specialist”classroom training will be held in Japan someday.

Now I work as an instructional designer. I try to create contents that enhances learning effects everyday. I am very grateful for the help of this community and Paul’s Youtube channel.

Very interesting that relatable viewpoint I think we are to use a little training especially with vision that Adobe provides on a monthly basis without this software programs.

I am starting my journey as well. I have been looking at this program over a year and unfortunately due to Covid I was afraid I would miss out on this opportunity. With the online certification it gives me an opportunity to work toward and reach my goal of an Instructional Design Professional. Thank you for sharing your story.

Thank you, Paul. In this place, where many Adobe Captivate veterans post their advice quickly, I think there are many others who have been helped. And we are helped with your posts, videos and comments. I’m looking forward to the update on YouTube.
