Captivate 19 – slow on PC

Hi,

I run a hi-spec laptop but have ongoing performance issues with Captivate. Looking for solution(s) for:

1. Takes 5 – 10 minutes to load the app

2. Can run slow within the app. Mouse movements jerky and slow response to key clicks >120 seconds

3. 30 – 60 minutes to save files which sometimes are corrupted. Unable to save to local hard drive as Captivate reports not enough space

The most recent version of Captivate is 11.5.1.499 for Windows, and 11.5.4.  for Mac. There is no version 10, but both versions 11.0 and 11?5 are also referred to as CP2019. Happy confusion!

Something is really going awry, but you need to give more details. Which exact version do you use, as mentioned under Help, About Captivate? Are you on Windows or Mac?

I have 11.5.1.499 for Windows. Cleared the cache and it’s a little quicker, still minutes for initial launch of program though.

Find it has many little quirks, for instance the Branching View doesn’t show all branching until I exit and relaunch

Something must be wrong indeed. Did you clean the Preferences? Look for  the subfolder ‘utils’ under the installation folder and run ‘CleanPreferencesWin.bat’ while Captivate is closed.

Do you run Captivate with the option ‘Run as Admiinstrator’?
