Can I publish a project to the web if I use the trial version or do I have to purchase it in order for it to work?  On my computer it works fine.  When I upload to a website, I only get a spinning wheel.  Please help.

The published project will be fully functional during 30 days. If you license the trial, you’ll have to republish and upload again to restore the published project without an expiry date.

Forgot to tell: you have to be sure that the used webserver supports the JSON protocol.

You can upload a published project but it will expire in 30 days.

This is not linked with your issue, which means something is wrong with the project. Which Preview method did you use? If this is a non-responsive project, the only Preview that is close to a published HTML output is F11, Preview HTML in Browser. Is the project working in that preview?

Can you clarify? The project posted during the trial is full featured? And, when you say it goes away, would I be reload the Captivate project file later if I subscribed/purchased it? Thank You.
