Adding a button stops the slide from flowing to the next
Hi, I would like to add a button in a slide that when clicked, it jumps to a contents slide from where I can jump around topics. I can setup the button and set the action to “Jump to” but it creates the button with only 3 seconds in the timeline. If I play the slide in “Preview -> From this slide” it starts the slide but it stops at the 3 seconds the button has set as duration.
If I right-mouse click the button and select “Show for the rest of the slide (CTRL-E)” the button is extended on the timeline but when the slide display ends, it does not flow to the next slide but it stops there in an image with no other object than the button.
Is there a way to add a button to jump to another slide without having the same button interfering with the normal slide flow?
Thanks!

The number one feature to master in Captivate is the Timeline, and how you can pause it. From your question I deduct that you don’t understand the Timeline yet. If you add an interactive object to a slide (which can be one of the 6 button types, a click box or a Text Entry Box) it will have a pausing point by default which is at 1.5 secs, not at 3 seconds. The default duration of most objects is 3 seconds, but I always change that in Preferences to Rest of Slide which is more useful.
If you don’t want the button to pause the slide, use the Timing Properties panel.
Have a look at this blog, one out of about 20 which I wrote about the Timeline:
