Can I create a slider in Captivate?

I found an article in here on how to create a slide.

https://elearning.adobe.com/2018/06/add-slide-bar-projects/

However, it doesn’t seem to be working for me.  I’ve looked at the downloadable example the author provided and I’m mimicking it almost exactly as best I can tell, but instead of a slider showing up on screen I’m seeing this:

The only thing I changed from the original script was “value” in the DIV….I changed it to 20 instead of 100.

I’m familiar with HTML and JS, but by no means and expert, so if there’s something in the original file that doesn’t work in Captivate 2019 I’m not seeing it.

I tried going back to the original author, but it looks like they’re not actively participating here anymore.

Any help, as always, is greatly appreciated.

v/r

Jay

Greg…I tried your version and came out with the same problem.  I tried to access your project files on the link you provided above and there seems to be an issue.  I hate to be a pain, but could you share your working results?  I’m sure I’m doing something silly, but I can’t figure it out.

I cannot speak for the original author’s project but I can for my own. Here is a link to Part 5 of my slider project which has links to the first four as well. This goes back to May of 2018 but the information and steps are still valid.

Perhaps they will be of use.

I see what you mean.

I tried to download the project files but there seems to be a problem with the site.

The original working finished project is here.

https://s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/captivateshare/sliders1/index.html

I can see about making the files available later this evening.

Greg…after a bunch of looking around I got the slider to appear correctly on my slide.  the problem now is that when I preview the project (HTML5 in Browser) it would let me grab and move the slider.  I tried to access your project files from the post you referenced above, but I got an error when I selected the link.

Any thoughts on what might be wrong?

I see what you mean about the project files.

I tried to download them yesterday and got the error message.

I figure it is an issue with the site. Problem is – I tried to post yesterday to the thread and got an error with that too. Sigh.

One thing that will always trip up something like this is if you copy and paste the code. What happens is that the quotations marks become skewed and are not properly recognized.

If you did copy and paste any code from my post, I suggest going back into Captivate for the onEnter  JavaScript and delete the quotes and retype them.

I see my post from yesterday is there now – I didn’t expect that since I had gotten the error.

May I suggest to add a comment to that article? There must be a bug in the code you used.
