When I try to preview a project I am working on, the preview doesn’t fully match my project. The glitches are literally all over the place.

Sometimes the timing of actions is off. For example, if an image is suppose to fall in from the top, the action isn’t smooth and it may or may not stop at the end of the motion path like it is supposed to. Sometimes the font is too small (yes I’ve already set the minimum text size), however if I close and preview again – totally different without me changing anything.

Sometimes the whole screen inverts and the colors change. Some times the play bar is missing buttons. All in all it’s completely weird, and I can’t get thru any course without glitches. So I have no way of knowing if things are timed right or positioned properly.

(Side note: The last course I built, I had a multi-state button that was my “menu” button. It MOVED locations on the rollover state! I spend quite a bit of time on the phone with support. This isn’t something you could do if you wanted to.)

Anyone else had this issue? Could it be my Captivate? How do you fix it?

Will need more details. Let us start with the version (full number as mentioned under Help, About Captivate) and the OS you are using? I suppose you will be publishing to HTML5? If it is a non-responsive project, you need to be aware of the fact that the only Preview method which uses temporary HTML output, is F11, Preview HTML in Browser. All other Preview methods show SWF output.

I also wonder if you are using perhaps Play Slide which is NOT a preview method at all?

Even F11 will not give you a totally correct image of the final published output (HTML is not standardized, treated differently depending on browser). That will only be visible after publishing and uploading to a webserver or LMS.
