Captivate 2019 closes when running TTS and downloading Character Assets from store

Hello community,

I have been researching this for a couple of weeks and have tried several fixes.

First, I am running Captivate version 11.5.1.499 on a Windows 10 Enterprise Version 1909 laptop, I am on a wireless connection through a VPN to a network with firewalls in place.

Second, I have tried the following steps:

  • Uninstall, cleaned up the files, and reinstalled Captivate
  • Ran the cleanup after installation
  • Removed the files in the C:UsersPublicDocumentsAdobeeLearning Assets folders and restarted
  • Ran Captivate as an Administrator

Third, I save my files locally on my laptop while I work on them, transferring to the network drive every Friday so I only lose a week if something happens.

I hope I covered the basic questions and common fixes. When I am downloading characters, so far this has only happened when downloading characters, it stops at 100%, then nothing happens.

It will sit there at 100% then close down. No error message, no warnings, just closes.

Also, when I run the text-to-speech, and this has not happened on every slide only a couple of slides in this project, it closes out without warning or error messages. It shows a percentage of completion for running TTS but never gets beyond 0% before completion.

Any thoughts on this? My IT department and I have been trying to figure this one out and really could use some help.

‘cleanup after installation’… do you mean Clean the Preferences?

There is a file that has been recommended to run from C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 2019 x64\utils with the name CleanPreferencesWin. I have run that clean preferences. So yes. I have run that too.
