I am creating e-learning content and want to change the available buttons (play, pause, slide bar etc) on the play bar specific to slides, I know that captivate gives playbar settings under project menu along with TOC, but this option reflects for the entire project.

In his presentation Javascript in elearning for beginners workhop from this year’s online conference, James Kingley shows how to change the playbar via Javascript. That might be of help 🙂

There is no easy way and it is kind of confusing to change navigation rules for the learner, don’t understand what you really want to achieve.

Creating custom buttons is a breeze. They can be timed for the rest of the project, get another custom state to replace the normal state etc…

I don’t understand what you want to do with the progress bar at all, because that is a totally different beast. I never use it because it is just fitting for a linear project without any branching.
