Publishing – How to open up a published work?
(6)

I published a project under BAK and my computer will not open it.  How do you open a BAK published project?  Is there another way to publish other than BAK?  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Hi lenores54095975 ,

Go to the Publish button which is located upside of the software. You will see a few different types of publishing preferences, choose one.

You can publish your projects as;

Publish to Computer: On this type of project is published to location which can be set on the publishing process. You can get a .zip file. After getting this output, you can upload it to a web server and call it via a browser.

Publish for Devices (for Application, iPhone, iPad, or Android): You need an Adobe PhoneGap account. You can create it when you publish your project.

Publish to Adobe Connect: As you know, Adobe Connect is a virtual classroom software that is very popular nowadays and you can publish your project to Adobe Connect. If your license supports Adobe Connect’s tracking version(it was calling Learner) you can track your users who are on Adobe Connect for the learners’ process.

Publish to Adobe Captivate Prime: This is a very easy way to publish your rapid learning projects to publish. You can publish your courses to Adobe brand-new Learning Management System which Adobe Captivate Prime.

I do not have Publish to Computer.  It starts with Publish for Devices.  I didn’t know about the Adobe PhoneGap account.  Nothing came up about doing that.  Thank you for the information.  I’ll see what I can do.

Publish to Computer and Publish for Devices are the same thing. The difference is that Devices show as the publishing option when you are creating a responsive design project. If you are designing a non-responsive project (Blank Project) it will say Computer.

Publish to Computer is an option in non-responsive projects. If you are in a Fluid Boxes project, it is Publish for Devices  for nomal publishig or you have to option to publish to an app (using PhoneGap).

A backup file is created when you save your project but the file extension for your project is CPTX (which will open in Captivate. If you publish with eLearning reporting turned on it will publish out as a ZIP file. To view it you would need to upload it to an LMS. I use Review My eLearning to share my course for previews with stakeholders and for review purposes. Check out this video here: https://youtu.be/tFAxIAdISJM

Have no idea what you mean about ‘BAK’? Can you explain? Captivate publishes to HTML5, to SWF (not recommended) or to MP4 (passive video).
