Miscellaneous Concepts
I am currently a provider of technical training and support in the electronic manufacturing industry. My prior training and work experience as a teacher, network administrator, web design, and instructional design make me well prepared to design it, develop it, and deliver it. I am a father of five, a US Army veteran, and I enjoy playing the guitar as well as performing in local community theater.

Hello Everyone!

In this post – I just wanted to share a resource with you.

Those who have frequented these pages and have seen a number of my postings know that I am a big advocate of interactivity and feel that it is the true purpose for building with this tool.

Hey: Captivate is a pretty expensive replacement for PowerPoint if that is all you plan to do with it. So c’mon and step up your game. We’re lifelong learners, here, right?

OK – so this is nothing more than a couple slides containing four different “brainstorming” sessions I had while playing around with Captivate and the Greensock animation libraries. These concepts are functional to an extent but they are not fully polished and integrated into any sort of lesson nor are they necessarily “bug free” but I think you can maybe see some potential in these sorts of interactions.

I am always trying to think of new ways to create engaging interactive modules for all ages and that means finding new ways for them to interact.

Here is a brief description of the ideas that I toyed with.

  1. Tanagrams – an idea from Ludovic Mercier
  2. Vertical Slider with defined scope and points which tie to state changes based on position
  3. Horizontal slider with defined scope and tied to speed of animated object
  4. Rotating tuner knob with defined scope and tied to state changes of what is supposed to be an LED panel

I am providing the project for you to study but please know that it will require the use of two different Greensock libraries. The GSAP core and the Draggable plug-in if you wish to make any changes and publish from your own computer.

Yes – both tap to rotate and the drag work on a tablet. The struggle with this one is if you get a bounding area of one shape overlapping another shape it can make it hard to drag the one you want but if you keep them far enough apart it is not too bad.

Hello Greg !… Another big thank for sharing your project, and the source !!!… I will test it soon !…

Just a question first : does the rotation (and the drag) works on tablet ? (I just have a computer here…)

And I want to precise that it’s tangram and not tanagram !…

Happy Captivating !…

😉
