Hi,

Personally I differentiate between a tweaked quiz slide, which uses the default quiz slides, and custom quiz slides which are created with standard objects, variables and advanced/shared actions. You want to tweak a quiz slide.

Something you may ignore: once you leave a (default) quiz slide, the answers will get blocked. That means if you navigate back to a quiz slide, you are blocked or frustrated. Blocked if there is not a default playbar, frustrated because you cannot edit the answers. Only when you use the Submit All feature it is possible to freely navigate between quiz slides. That feature will submit all answers at once when the learner decides, which can also have some disadvantages. You can add a Back button (which you can rename) to the quiz slides, it is one of the default buttons, just check the checkbox for that button. But keep in mind what I told about the answers being locked.

The Submit button is the most essential embedded object on quiz slides. You may rename it to Next, but that is not fully correct. There is a two-step Submit process, and the ‘Next’ button will first show the feedback messages, and can indeed move to the Next slide but only in the second step of the Submit process.

You try to tweak quiz slides in a way that is not very logical. The Next button is essentially a Submit button, meant to start the Submit process. Since answers are locked on a slide when revisiting it, you cannot submit anymore, the first step of the process cannot be done. That is the reason you have the situation you described.

Maybe the tweak described in this blog is a better way to achieve what you want.

It is one post out of a quite long series of blogs describing all features of quizzes, and possible tweaks.
