This is ridiculous. The default Captivate theme (Pearl) sucks to no end. Yet I can not find a way to simply change the theme (even though there are supposed to be multiple themes to choose from). I am in a hurry to create a rapid development eLearning (in a matter of hours ,,, Not days), and I have no time to “create” a custom theme. I just want a theme that has high contrast and good legibility of text (which the default “Pearl” theme fails royally flat on its face on all counts).

Thanks Ron for your kind words. It looks like I am about the only one who ever writes about themes.
BTW I completely agree that Pearl is a bad choice as default theme. It has a grayscale color palette. After installing I immediately set the Blank theme as default because that is the only one limited to the compulsory 6 master slides. Much easier to edit a theme starting with that one. I have several custom themes ready as well.
About this site: it is a pity that so much is hidden. Recently I posted a blog about Replay/Reset both on my personal blog and here. No views here, almost 1000 on my blog in very little time. Similar for one of the most important blogs I ever wrote about Pausing Timeline, almost no views here, 13000 on my personal blog. Maybe I better stop posting here.
You must have missed all my blogs about themes….
You find all links in:
Hi Lieve,
No, I didn’t miss your blog posts. You and your blog posts have been the most valuable assets and advice to be found on this site, and I am extremely appreciative.
The problem was I was seriously under the gun to get a pre-training assessment completed in a matter of a couple hours in preparation for an On the Job Just In Time Training to be delivered remotely immediately the following morning.
First I tried Project Settings … no luck changing anything there … Then I tried slide properties … no luck … Then I tried skin settings … no luck … (all the while encountering various pull downs that implied I could change it here and there, but wouldn’t actually perform the function) … Then out of frustration, and after using the Search Engine of the site for terms like “Change Theme,” I posted an emergency message here on the offhand chance Adobe/Community found the answer before I did … Then …
Ah hah! There’s a “Themes” button on the upper toolbar! (Duh! … but in my defense, not very visible to me in my hurried scramble) … That was where I found my solution (“Cement and Steel” with no shopping around to see if there was better due to time constraint).
I may post the product of my efforts in a subsequent post if someone wants to see an example of a rapid development Learner assessment. But will save that for separate post due to potential monitor delay.
I want to get this “Thank You!” out to you.
Ron
