Advanced Actions Window __ Null Issue

Hi.

I’m encountering an issue with the Advanced Actions window. When I open it all is see for labels of fields is null. I can’t even close the window as there is not option for that, therefore causing me to quit captivate.

I’m using Captivate 11.5.4.613, macOS Catalina (10.15.7)

Any guidance is appreciated.

Kristi

Here’s what is happening for me, now using CP 11.8 and macOS Monterey…

Very strange… but I am a Windows user.

Just one suggestion: close Captivate. Find the installation folder, and its subfolder ‘utils’. Run the CleanPreferencesMac file. I hope this fixes the corruption.

Thanks for the feedback. Oh, I’ve done many cleaning preferences, changing accessibility settings, changing app and file permissions, as Adobe has had me try. What’s even weirder is that the 2022 Mac Studio (M1 Max chip) with the same operating system runs Captivate 2019 11.8 without a problem. The advanced actions screen looks fine. I wonder if the 11.5 version of Captivate 2019 is having trouble with my 2021 MacBook Pro 14 (M1 Pro chip) running Monterey.

Version 11.5 is NOT compatible with M1 chip, Monterey and Win11. You need to use version 11.8, which is only available as subscription license. I am sorry about that, but I am just a user like you.

Hola. : ) Thanks for the good feedback! Believe it or not, version 11.5 worked great on my M1 MacBook Pro (2020) on Big Sur (once Adobe released the fix in December 2020), including the advanced actions screen. It’s when I got the M1 Pro MacBook Pro (2021) running Monterey that 11.5 did this. What I may not have mentioned is that I’ve run into that same problem with the “null”  advanced actions screen issue every time I updated the MacOS since 2017, teaching me to not update the MacOS until Adobe released a fix. : ) It was a hard lesson. Of course, I don’t expect that Adobe will be releasing that “fix” for 11.5 at this point. I’ll probably install my perpetual 11.5 license on an older device.

I am sorry about that experience. Personally I don’t like that a necessary patch is combined with a change in status (from perpetual to subscription) of the license, but my opinion is not at all important of course. My only goal is trying to help Captivate users, and lack of user support by the company is just hurting.

I am happy to report that a most skilled customer service technician named Pushpendra cleaned up my corrupted user account and permissions and got the problem resolved.

Could you insert a screenshot of what you see exactly in the Advanced Actions dialog box? I am on Windows, but want to be sure to understand your question.

If you are not able to see the full Advanced Actions dialog box (there is a Cancel button at the bottom), you may have to edit your screen resolution. Which type of monitor do you have?

Here is a link to a blog with in-depth explanation of all the features of the dialog box:
