Narration audio too low in my Adobe Captivate 2019 Projects

I’ve been using Adobe Captivate 2019 for over a year, and have yet to figure out how set the record volume correctly for narration in my projects at the time I am creating the content. For every project type I narrate, I always have to go back into the audio settings and select the “normalize volume” feature to increase the gain on the slides that contain narration. There has to be an easier way to set the microphone input volume correctly at the start.  I always perform the calibrate microphone step before starting recording the project, but that doesn’t seem to help. Any suggestions?

Thank you,

Eric

Auto Calibration in Captivate in almost all cases leads to a volume level which is too low.

It is one of the reasons I prefer largely to record in Audition. I also use a fixed value which I have found by trial and error for each of my mikes, if I use the recording feature of Captivate. But I always will apply some Effects in Audition after recording and small editing. Quality of audio is very important and often neglected.

I’ve found that after some experimentation with auto-calibration that I merely type in the value that works best for me. Captivate thinks my microphone should have a pre-amplifier volume of 0.1. I always override this and use 0.8.

Of course these are my numbers. with a different microphone and computer you may have entirely different values. Use the Record and Play buttons to test out the levels for your situation.

Thanks for providing a level to start with.
