how do i hide a text caption that i’ve added to a screen  simulation recording so that when i publish the project I DO NOT want to see the text caption display , i only want to hear the audio.

I’ve clicked the eye ball in the timeline to make the caption disappear but  when i preview or publish it still appears .

OK, I first wrote to delete those captions, if they are the automatically inserted ones.  It used to be possible to hide them, but I just double-checked and that is no longer the case. You need to delete the captions or shapes (I never use captions) that are automatically generated. Sorry, I normally always check before answering, didn’t realize that this feature had changed. You want only to ‘hide’ some of them, so setting up before the capture is not a solution. Only deleting the unwanted messages will do the trick.

I dont want to delete them as they are associate with the audio text that I’ve imported from a third party audio narrative so I need to be able to have the text there in case I change it , then I dont have to re-type it into the third party tool.

I figured out a way to do it . just move the text captions off the slide

but thanks anyway

I still dont understand why captivate would have changed that feature to simply hide a component

Sure, that could be a solution, they will not be in the published version in that case. If it were shapes you could have created a style which simulates invisibility to apply to them. That is less easy with the old captions of course.

Are you talking about the automatically created messages when recording? They may be captions or shapes, depending on the setup. You will have to hide them manually (eye icon in the Properties panel).

If you had known this before recording you could have spared you this waste of time by editing the  setup before recording. You do this under Preferences, Recording, Modes where you can set up for the different sim modes.

If your ‘captions’ have been added manually, you can hide them as with any object using the eye icon in the Properties panel.

@Lieve Weymeis    …I dont want to hide every text caption , just select captions.  As I mentioned in my post above, I have clicked on the EYE icon and it shows that it is hidden with the red X but when I publish the course, those captions still appear.
