Let’s discuss #3: Crafting effective narratives for learning design
I am an Instructional Designer with 12+ years of experience in different industries and areas, skilled in designing numerous learning and training materials, while working closely with faculty, subject matter experts, professionals, departments, and training team members to design top-quality instructional content. I have been using Adobe Captivate for several years to design industry standard e-learning courses. I am looking forward to learn and share my knowledge in this community.

I think the necessary component of creating scenarios is “observation.” If we see different examples, then we can be creative. So, I look forward to seeing others’ ideas and best-case scenarios. Great question!

My all-time favourite scenario-based training was this.

This was a branch-aware training course developed for the US military operating in Afghanistan. It taught the soft skills required to interact with persons the US military would need to interact with while serving.

It was a perfect scenario because you saw the consequences of your choices and actions within the safety of eLearning. It was designed almost like a graphic novel, which makes so much sense when considering the target audience for this training. It reminded me of the choose your adventure books I read as a child. Like any story, you wanted to keep participating to see what would happen next. This is one of my all-time favourites.
