Captivate 2019 playback and published video skipping slides

I’ve had a very recent problem with Captivate 2019. I’m creating software video demonstrations, and when I preview them, random slides are partially skipped or skipped entirely, or the mouse movement is cut off. I’ve tried several illogical solutions (illogical solutions typically work for me in Captivate), such as slightly changing the slide timing, slightly changing the mouse timing, placing a blank slide between slides, then hiding it, placing an extra object on a slide, etc. Sometimes it helps, but most often it just moves the problem to a different slide. I’ve also tried clearing the project cache and cleaning out the library of unused items.

If this was just a playback issue, I would ignore it, but the published video (.mp4) also has random skipping. Is this a bug? Has anyone else encountered this? Solutions?

Some information is lacking in the description or the problem. I understood that you publish to MP4, but how did you create the software simulation? There are two ways in Captivate since version 6:

  • Using the software simulation workflow in Demo mode. I suspect you used that older workflow. Do you have a lot of Full Motion Recording slides in that case? They could present issues since they are based on SWF technology and need to be converted to MP3 themselves on runtime. I always recommend to replace them by Video Demo slides.
  • Using the Video Demo workflow which results in better quality and has a dedicated video editor.

Which workflow did you use? Can you also tell which version you are using (full number to be found under Help, About Captivate) on which OS?
