  1. Click on the button where you want to make the refresh work.
  2. Go to properties panel.
  3. Click on use as button.
  4. Click on actions.
  5. On success click and find “Execute Advanced Actions”.
  6. On the right of hand side click on the files icon in yellow.
  7. Name the action as you like.
  8. Double click on actions and type as follows: Expression, cpCmdGotoSlide.
  9. Click on variables and type “cpInfoCurrentSlide”.
  10. Select minus sign “-“.
  11. Click on literal and insert “1”.
  12. Then you select hide on the next line and select the layer you want to hide while refreshing.
  13. And on the last line after you hide your layers, double click on the next line and put “Continue”.

You just show the Replay action, which will not reset everything at all on a slide. For several features it is necessary to ‘re-enter’ the slide, and even have an On Enter action to restore everything. I blogged about the difference between Replay and Reset actions, and created a Captivate tutorial as well. Here is the link to the blog:

I will post the link to the Captivate tutorial in a separate comment or it would need waiting time for moderation.
