I am thinking about making a switch. I have been using Storyline and Rise for quite a while now. Did anyone make the switch to Captivate from Storyline/Rise? If so, how hard was the switch?
I used Articulate and had to learn Captivate on my own and in a hurry.
If you have already developed in other software, it will be much easier to migrate to Captivate. Even though they are different, the base is very similar.
Yes, you can take a course, but on Adobe’s forums you will also find a lot of useful material for those who already develop content. They were the ones who helped me with the platform differences.
Having worked with both, I found there was more of a learning curve with Captivate, and I am still learning. My suggestion is to get the trial, take some tutorials, maybe take a course from Coursera or Udemy (if you do not find what is on this forum what you need) and try to build some things.
Ok – for some reason my first post doesn’t look like it went through. Apologize if this gets posted twice. Not my intent.
Personally, I find each have their strengths and weaknesses. I also enjoy trying things out in Captivate that I have done in Storyline. Rise is a completely different animal and really anyone can use it with some level of success. It also has its strengths and weaknesses.
Someone suggested on this forum some time ago to take the eLearning challenges from Articulate and try to create something to answer that in Captivate as a way to practice some things. I thought that was a nice idea. You just can’t submit them to the challenge, but you can submit them on the forum.
I also enjoy both for different reasons. And that is possibly not a shared experience or opinion from some others on this forum. And that’s ok.
Hope this helps in some way.
Thanks for reading.
