FYI Same question was posted on the Adobe forums, where you can find clarification of this question.

The course bookmarking should be managed by TOC. However navigation after retaking the course was set up to happen to slides where the name was hidden in the TOC. That is not possible. I suggested to use Collapse for the groups, which were the topic titles. The underlying slide names will be hidden to the learner, but not literally hidden so that navigation to those slides is possible. See more:

I did answer this question hours ago, but that answer has disappeared. It may re-appear later but I’ll try to summarize quickly.

Do not hide the slide names in the Table of Contents, which is the cause of your problem. An alternative is to collapse the group you created as “topic”. In that case the slide name will still be visible and it will be possible to click the slides because clicking the Topic doesn’t allow navigation.

Since you talk about ‘bookmarking’, I want to warn! Bookmarking by TOC (Self-paced learning) should only be used if you are not working with a LMS, to avoid issues with the more powerful LMS bookmarking. Bookmarking by LMS uses cookies, which means it will only be honored if the learner uses the same system and doesn’t clear the Browser history.

The screenshot was not added, at least I don’t see it. Did you use ‘Add Media’?

It is not possible to link to hidden slides, because those slides are not included when publishing. But I suspect that you meant something else: did you hide the names of the slides in the Table of Content after grouping them and keeping only the group name? If the slide names are hidden, they cannot reappear automatically. However you could keep the slide names and collapse all groups in the Setup for the TOC. Is that not a valid alternative?

As for bookmarking: are you uploading to a LMS? In that case, please do not use bookmarking by TOC (Self-paced learning) because it could screw up the more powerful bookmarking by the LMS.
