Embedding Certificates from Captivate in Rise?

Hi everyone!

I am creating a Rise 360 course (Clients’ requirements!) and they would like a ‘certificate of completion’ embedded within the course.

They’re not looking for anything fancy and they don’t have an LMS, so it would literally be a certificate that is the last block on the course.

I’d really like to show them how Captivate can do this (with the hope of converting them!), but I’m stuck on embedding the certificate into Rise, and allowing the users to input their name. If the input isn’t possible, that’s fine, but just getting a certificate embedded is making my brain ache!!

Any help?

Thank you!!

For an answer to your ‘certificate of completion’ question in Rise360, I would offer that the fastest solution is to embed an Attachment block under Multimedia in the block library and add a designed certificate of completion that people can download.

I don’t know that I’ve seen anything in Rise that would allow interactive text (although admittedly I’ve only investigated this mildly). You could work around that with Storyline and design the certificate there with a Data Entry text box for their names wherever you want (under Insert, and from the Interactive Object Groups, click the Data Entry drop-down and choose Text Entry). Then export that slide to Review360 and add it to your Rise360 course’s last page with an interactive Storyline block. But if you go with that option, I don’t have a good answer to how you make that printable that doesn’t involve some coding, writing out instructions for them to print that page of the course, or having them take a screenshot.

Hope this was helpful in some way! If you already discovered a work around to this issue, I’d be happy to hear it!

If I was in your position, I’d talk with the client more to understand why they want Rise specifically. I think that’s the real question here.

Maybe their staff are accustomed to Rise packages? Maybe the thought of having their own LMS is daunting and they aren’t aware of cloud based or supplier managed systems? From a business perspective, it sounds like there might be opportunity to offer your client more value by helping them better understand the training landscape. Maybe offer a free PowerHour on the subject? I get the feeling it might be worth the investment!

(Great business website by the way! Looks like you offer a good range of needed training services!)

Can you put the engine of an Airbus in a car? Sorry, I am really kidding now… Rise is a solution for quick canned output which maybe used by an pedagogical expert can lead to a ‘course’, Captivate is quite another tool as you already experienced, with many more interactivity and customizing features.. The learning interaction for the Certificate is based on embedding system and user variables on runtime. I suppose you could try to achieve this using JavaScript, but I never really got deep into Rise, too limited for my personal taste.

Haha! I love this! Thanks, I guess I need to step into my expertise and really tell them what they need!

Glad you wasn’t offended by my kidding… I often wonder why some clients see all eLearning tools as similar whereas they fuss over the slightest detail when choosing a car.
