360 VR Video

I’m creating a course in Captivate using 360 videos. None of the original features are the same as a pervious versions of Captivate 2019 and its super irritating.

For starters, I have to develop the course as one slide vs cutting my videos because the transitioning between slides is very very rough. I can’t continue playing a video after I have a question slide without having to press play on the player, which is cumbersome and quite stupid if you were taking this course in VR. But I guess that’s not an issue since that option doesn’t work. I’ve tried multiple times to get the VR functionality using my Google Cardboard goggles to work but all it does display the opening image and that’s it. You can’t move your head, or finger, or my bluetooth controller, to adjust the view. I do have the most current version, 11.8.

This is a big project with a lot of eyes on it. I’ve built 360 VR projects before with Captivate 2019 after the product first came out with a previous employer with no issues. 2 years later none of the features I’ve worked with before, work.

It seems like I missed this question. Since I still am using 11.5.5.553 on Win10 it is possible that features have changed in 11.8 and/or for another OS. So far I never did see any changes for 360 slides, but dealing with VR video is a lot more complicated than with VR images.  Agree with the possible issues when needing to cut the videos in parts. What is the reason for that approach? You need to combine with non-VR slides perhaps? Can you offer some more details about the differences you experience in this version compared with the former version? I suppose this blog may need an update?

Actually all of the problems are with adobe and not our platforms. After adobe got rid of Flash, the ability to use Google Cardboard with a Smartphone to create a more immersive experience when out the door because those capabilities ran on Flash.

Not sure completely, but I did see Captivate’s output for VR demonstrated on Google Cardboard. Since I don’t have that device, cannot double-check now. But know that SWF output has NEVER been possible for Captivate 360projects and slides.

Sounds like you are having technical issues beyond what another user could assist with. Try emailing captivatehelp@adobe.com and let them know about your difficulties. Perhaps they help resolve these challenges.
