Hi all,

I have installed new windows, after that i could not open the captivate file, appears notification:

How to fix it?

Adding to kdmemory’s great suggestions. Before re-installing Captivate, if you are indeed on a compatible CP version (Win 11 needs 11.8, which is subscription only) try the usual troubleshooting scenarios:

  • Check if there is any .lck file in the project folder, which would mean that the project has not been closed correctly. You can safely delete those lck files.
  • Clear the cache which can be done from Preferences. That menu is available on the Welcome screen.
  • Clean the Preferences. You need to close Captivate, look in the installation folder for the subfolder ‘utils’ and run the CleanPreferencesWin.bat file. Restart Captivate.
  • Eventually the Layouts folder (has the themes) could have become corrupt, but try first the scenarios mentioned above.

Can you open any other cptx file apart from “NCR.cptx”?

If not, try re-installing Captivate.

Also, if you installed Windows 11, you know that you need Captivate Version 11.8?
