Captivate 2019 not playing when published files uploaded to a web server and creating a link pointing at the lesson. Lesson does not play.
Hi, I’m having some huge issues playing my eLearning lessons when uploaded to a web server. We’re saving all published files to a folder in a web server and the link we create, we’re pointing to the index.html file. When we click on the link to play the lesson the wheel spins around endlessly and the lesson does not play. What do we need to do in order to have this work? We were able to do it with Captivate 2009 but not with the new Captivate 2019. Any solutions to this issue, please help!
Please mention the full version number which you can find under Help, About Captivate. CP2019 is the common name for at least 3 main releases (11.0, 11.5, 11.8) and some minor patch releases.
Perhaps the old courses were published to SWF? Did you check the new course on incompatibilities with HTML5 output? You can use the HTML tracker under the Project menu.
Moreover, HTML output is quite different. Example: audio and video files need to be loaded On Enter for each slide. Since you talk about a spinning wheel, some suggestions:
- Avoid to have audio and video on the first slide, since that would mean too much has to be uploaded at once.
- If you use slide audio, have a small gap before and after the audio timeline to avoid that Captivate ‘sees’ all slide audio as one big project audio file which needs to be loaded completely on the first slide. This is only valid if you have also audio on that first slide.
- You may have to find a similar solution for heavy video clips.
Another possibility: is the webserver supporting JSON? That is necessary if you do have PNG files in your course.
