Transition of picture blurring
(3)

I am working on a project that I have been asked to use pictures as buttons to transition to a revealing slide. The pictures open up blurred and my customer has asked me to make the pictures clear after the participant has clicked on it. There are six total pictures and unless I put them in a specific order then participant can click the pictures randomly, which is what is desired. Does anyone know of a way to achieve this, if I am making sense.

That explanation makes it easier to understand your requirement.

I don’t know if you have read my post?

This would be my approach:

  • Open the Object State panel
  • For the Normal state use Image editor in Captivate (Properties panel, Edit Image). Play with Sharpness, Alpha, Saturation etc until the image is blurred enough.
  • The Hover and Down state will get the same image, which you can still edit if wanted.
  • Add the Visited state and use the Image Editor again to restore the original settings for all the parameters, it will now be the clear picture.
  • Make sure to activate the option ‘Retain state when revisiting’.

I just applied that workflow to an image used as button, works great.

Something very important is missing: which type of  ‘pictures’ are you talking about? Are those bitmap images (JPG, GIF, PNG) or vector images (SVG)?  And what is their size? Do you need help with blurring, or with setting up the states for those images used as buttons?  The state which appears after clicking automatically is the Visited state, but you need to create it. Really need more information. I will post one link to a blog post which I wrote about button states:

I am waiting for the clarification about the real goal of your question and the images.

So the images are JPG and I have placed a shape over top of them to act as the blur. My goal is to have each picture blurred and used as an individual button. Once one of the buttons are pressed and page visited, upon return to the display of pictures that button now appears as a clear picture and remains as such until all six separate pictures/pages are visited and the participant moves forward within the lesson.
