Captivate trial files
(2)
Hi, I might be starting a new contract that uses Captivate so I download the free 30 days trial. The company who I may be working with are saying I cannot use a trial version as they might not have access to the files after my trial ends.
Is this the case? or are any files, and related published files stand open and still openable by other users  who have licensed versions after my trial ends? I would have thought the files produced via free trial and licensed would be  accessible as long as the captivate version opening then has a licence or time left of its trial. If anyone could clarify that would be great as I would rather use the trial time allowance before starting a subscription.
Thanks, Claire

You have two questions, which I will try to answer:

  • When your trial expires, the company will indeed no longer have access to the raw cptx (or cpvc)-file which makes editing impossible.
  • If you published output, that output will remain active for 30 days after publishing which may not be the same as the trial start date. Example:  if you publish on the last day of the trial version, output will remain accessible for 30 days even when the trial application has already expired.

If you publish a project with the trial version – the project will no longer work after the trial expires.

If you open the project and simply publish it again using a licensed version, it will be fine.
