Storage of Assets

When we create eLearnings, a lot of different assets need to be managed, like-videos, audio recordings, images, storyboards, etc. to name a few. Though in my organization we have been using Google Drive and other storage tools, I don’t think it’s the best option to store the assets. I am unable to track all the assets as per the courses/topics, their versions, etc. I also want to track when the assets are due for updates. Please share how you have been doing it or any better ways/best practices for the same

I agree. A dedicated digital asset management (DAM) system can greatly simplify the process.

Hi! Have you considered using a dedicated digital asset management (DAM) tool? These tools are specifically designed to help you organize, track, and manage your assets effectively. With a DAM system, you can create folders or categories for different courses or topics, making it easier to locate and retrieve specific assets. You can also assign metadata or tags to assets to facilitate searching and filtering. When it comes to version control, a DAM system can track the history and changes made to each asset, ensuring you have a clear record of updates. My organization uses Adobe Experience Manager Assets. Let me know if you need further details!

Cloud storage is for sure one of the possibilities. I mostly use Creative Cloud but with clients it is often another platform.

However for some of the assets you mention, are you aware of the possibilities of the Project libraries in Captivate? Maybe have a look at this blog post:

If you use roundtripping with Photoshop you’ll see immediately if the original image (or layers, or layer comps) have been updated. You can store audio assets, bitmap images (preferable using PSD import), videos and… shared actions in a library and use that library in each new project.
