Needing help with New Captivate’s Software Simulation functionality.
Hi all! Like most of you, I got very familiar with the 2019 Captivate and could run through software simulations/editing them pretty quickly but I’m having a lot of trouble with software simulations in the new update.
1. If I add a highlight box around the clickbox, the clickbox seems to no longer be enabled in preview mode and then when I hide/disable the highlight box, I get an error message when I try to preview what that looks like. See below:
2. I tried this specific simulation about 10-12 times adjusting the settings each time to make sure it wasn’t a user error on my end and still haven’t been able to get the click boxes to work. I moved over to the old captivate and was just going to copy my simulation slides from there into a project I’m already working on in the new captivate and it doesn’t seem as though you can copy simulation slides from the 2019 version into the updated one.
If anyone can help or has experienced these things, I’d love your input or advice. Thanks so much!
You will not be able to copy slides from Captivate Classic in the new version 12. The new version is only creating responsive projects. When you create a software simulation, those slides are not really responsive, if you check out what happens in Tablet and Phone breakpoint you’ll see what I mean. This is pretty useless if you want a sim in Training or Assessment mode since panning happens automatically to the part of the slide where the learner needs to click. Not my idea for a software training. I just want to warn you. Maybe this is fine for a sim in demo mode, you didn’t specify exactly why you want sim slides in your course?
