Captivate Content – Viewer Restrictions
(1)

I am working with a blank Captivate project where I’ve imported an mp4 file. This content will be published to SCORM2004 and added as a lesson in a Workday Learning course. I want to ensure the learner is required to view the entire lesson prior to having it marked “complete.” I have done this in Captivate with PPT slides, but never with a mp4. Does this functionality exist? Because it’s mp4, I expect the “Quiz Preferences” won’t work because it bases the restriction off of slides or an assessment. Not a video file.

This is wrongly posted as a blog, because it is really a question.

Are you sure that the LMS accepts a MP4 as a SCORM course? Not all LMSs allow this because no data are transferred from the MP4 to the LMS: no interactivity, no quiz, no interaction data.  How can a completion be checked if there is no interaction whatsoever?

BTW Captivate Draft was an app for iPad, which is no longer supported.

If you have a video slide in a raw CP project, you can take out navigation by the playbaradd a Next button timed to appear near the end of the video. The learner will now be forced to ‘view’ the video but whether he will really see and understand the information is not guaranteed. Especially for adult learners I find that personally condescending.
