Hi! Using audio editing software is one method I’ve found to optimize audio in eLearning modules. You can considerably reduce file sizes without sacrificing the quality and clarity of the audio files by eliminating any extraneous silence or background noise and altering the audio levels.

Have you considered using video hosting platforms? You can even use YouTube for that matter. You can then embed the YouTube video in your course.

Try video and audio compression techniques to optimize eLearning content: smaller file sizes, better performance.

I use Adobe Media Encoder to optimize both audio and video clips. Both are increasing file size considerably, so it is important to search for a good size/quality balance. In most cases it makes no sense to have stereo audio for narration.  Be sre to use streaming video, not embedded video. Just some first tips.
